Default Two newb questions

Hello,

Any answer to the following questions is much appreciated:

1. I am currently level 17. I have run accross several skill trainer NPCs that offer to teach me different skills. Can these skills be found through quests or are these NPCs the only way of learning these skills?

2. My current weapon says that it deals 6-27 fire damage. Besides the obvious, what is the difference between fire damage and regular damage? For that matter, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each type of damage(fire, earth, chaos...)?

Thank you in advance for any help.

1. Depends on what skills. Many you can, some you can't.

2. the difference is that it is fire damage rather than regular damage. It's that simple. some skills and different armours give bonuses against different types of damage. Fire damage counts as elemental damage. Other than the difference in type it is exactly the same; There is no inherent advantage one way or the other, it just depends on the targets armour and resistances.
